Credit Card Chargeback
Credit Card Chargeback
A chargeback occurs when a cardholder disputes a credit or debit card transaction with their card issuer, resulting in the reversal of a payment previously applied to a student account.
If a payment made to the University is returned as a chargeback:
- The full amount of the disputed payment will be reinstated to the student account.
- A $30 chargeback fee will be assessed for each chargeback received.
- The resulting balance is due immediately and may be subject to applicable late fees and service charges.
- Financial holds may be placed on the student account until the balance is paid in full.
Payment Restrictions
To reduce the risk of future returned payments, students who have one or more chargebacks on their account may have a payment restriction placed on their account.
This restriction will prevent payment by:
- Credit card
- Debit card
- Electronic check (e-check)
- Personal check
Students subject to a payment restriction must make future payments using approved guaranteed funds, such as:
- Cash
- Cashier's check
- Certified check
- Money order
- Other approved payment methods as determined by Student Financial Services
Repeated chargebacks or returned payments may result in additional account restrictions and could impact a student's ability to register for future terms.
